EXCELLENT MULTI-REGION PLAYER, Costs considerable more then the non-multi region version, but worth it if you have DVD's from other region's (PAL).

We owned the non multi region version Sony DVP-FX930 9-Inch Portable DVD Player, Black, and liked it very much. Excellent player. Just check all the reviews on it. Or look at the "non multi region" version of this FX950 if you don't need to play PAL dvd's Sony DVP-FX950 9-Inch Portable DVD Player.

We recently needed/wanted some cartoons kids dvd's from Europe for the kids. We could have got them and then convert them to NTSC using some software or something. But I just didn't want all the hassle of that. So decided to sell the FX930, and get this multi-region FX950.

As the FX930, this is just an excellent dvd player. It works fine playing both NTSC and PAL dvd's. Liked it very much. Saved me bunch of time, if I was to convert all those PAL dvd's.

Additionally the battery goes for over 7 hours! I was already impressed with the 6 hours of the FX930, I'm even happier with this 7,5 hours battery.

Here a tip from our FX930 experience:
I never charge the battery while at the same watching a DVD. I think this saves the battery.

Had an experience with the FX930 where the battery only lasted for about 2 hours. I figured this might have been because the battery was charged while at the same time playing a dvd on it.

I think recharging the battery while watching a DVD affects the battery. Learning from this experience I never again use the DVD player while at the same time charging the battery. Now I recharge the battery only when it's completely drained, and will not use it till the battery is completely charged again. This worked well for us. Now the battery always last all the 7 hours. (with the FX930 it was 6 hours).

If I happen to want/need to watch a DVD and the battery has run out, I take the battery of the player, and continue using the player connected to power supply, without the battery, so that the battery won't charge while I'm watching a DVD. After I'm done watching the DVD, then I will connect the battery again, and charge it overnight. That way I make sure the battery is charged to the max, and hopefully also protects the battery to last longer.

Charging the battery full takes quite a few hours. Actually I don't quite remember how long it took. But I believe it was at least 4 hours, I think it was more,... like 6 or 8 hours even. But since I charge the battery overnight, this is ok with me.

Hope this is helpful. Thanks for reading.
