Hdmi Vs Component - Which is the Best?

Most citizen would select Hdmi over component without a question. Hdmi has both digital audio and video and it is capable of 1080p resolutions on many source devices. Component has analog video with no audio and while it's capable of 1080p, most source devices currently do not withhold 1080p through component. However, when it comes to unmistakably deciding which video standard unmistakably looks the best, you may want to read further.

Cable Specs Overrated?

On older high definition sources such as the Xbox 360, cable box, or an up converting Dvd player, it is recommended that you try both cables and see which looks better. The infer for this is that some devices only withhold early versions of Hdmi which transmit the signal at a lower bandwidth. In some cases, component video is unmistakably a clear winner versus Hdmi on older Av equipment.

If you use Hdmi for your cable or satellite box, I advise trying both cables. Why not? Hd television programs are still broadcasted in 720p and 1080i. So when it comes to older Av recievers, Dvd players, and cable/sat boxes try both cables and you be the judge on which looks the best.

Now and the Future

For newer source devices, Hdmi is the way to go. Current Hdmi specifications are capable of resolutions even higher than 1080p! The only qoute is that Tvs and source devices still need to catch up to such capabilities. Hdmi also has Dolby Digital and Dts audio capabilities. Component does not carry audio and a isolate cable is needed to run the audio from the source to the display.

In a Nutshell

Hdmi is clearly the winner when it comes to new Av equipment. However, I advise trying both on older source devices and displays.
